Microneedling

Its name may sound a little daunting, but microneedling works. Estheticians, nurses and doctors agree this treatment is a better way to do a facial. It is an amazing and effective treatment for acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, and many other signs of unhealthy skin.

Overtime, genetic and environmental factors cause our skin to age visibly. Collagen is lost and elasticity diminishes. Microneedling reverses this in a process known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT.  During CIT, the microneedles cause superficial damage to the skin.  As the body heals, new collagen forms and the skin thickens and tightens.  Instead of looking good for a few days as is the case with traditional facials, your skin is smooth and radiant for much longer.  You are left with fresh, plump skin and decreased fine lines and wrinkles. Additional benefits of Microneedling include improved texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, stretch marks and pore size.

Initial results post-treatment are temporary redness, and peeling or flaking of skin. This could last for a couple of days as the old layer of skin begins to shed. After a few more days, the old skin is gone, and new youthful skin emerges. To achieve the best results, a minimum of 4 treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart is highly recommended.

Some patients are apprehensive about the procedure due to the thought of several tiny needles perforating the skin, but there is no question that the results are phenomenal. Numbing cream is applied on the entire face before any microneedling is performed. More sensitive areas include the forehead, and upper lip area. The feeling is often described as rubbing sandpaper across the face, although is often described as uncomfortable as opposed to painful. Nevertheless, patients are more than satisfied with the long lasting and immediately visible results. The ultimate goal of this procedure is to not only treat the pre-existing wrinkles and scars, but to penetrate below the surface before new wrinkles form. In turn, aged skin is replaced by healthier, renewed skin. Regular microneedling treatments several times per year will dramatically improve not only the appearance of your skin, but more importantly, the overall health of your skin.

Microneedling treatments are $300 per session.
