Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers Austin

Enhance your features, eliminate smile lines, plump your pout, and more with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. While there are many types of facial fillers on the market, hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are the safest and most effective for cosmetic treatments. Visit SDBotox in Austin to elevate your natural beauty.

At SDBotox, we exclusively inject FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based fillers. This type of filler has proven to be the safest and shows results faster. Hyaluronic acid, similar to collagen, has the same appearance upon injection.

The results of dermal fillers can be as subtle or striking as you want. HA fillers add volume to the face, stimulate new collagen formation and rejuvenate your skin. There is a near-zero risk of an allergic reaction because hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring.

While rare, some patients get filler and find they were already full. Hyaluronic acid-based injectable fillers are reversible, and we can safely remove them at a future appointment.

If you want to try dermal fillers, the expert team at SDBotox are the safest injectors in Austin. Give us a call to set up an appointment!

Restylane FAQs

There are 4 major competing brands of dermal fillers with a lot of crossover between the products. Your provider will best explain the treatment plan and why they are using a specific product over another.

Neither filler is objectively superior, what is right for you depends on the individual’s aesthetic goals and anatomy. A consult is recommended to determine which filler would be the best to meet your needs.

Dependent on the product and the individual’s metabolism, majority of HA fillers last approximately 6 months up to 1 year. Some of the more robust fillers last up to 2 years.

Results are immediate, however there is initial swelling and potential bruising that we recommend to give 2 weeks to allow optimal healing.

No, when filler is placed strategically, you will look like yourself, just a few years younger.

Merz

From the maker of Xeomin, Merz Aesthetics also has 2 different products of filler.

  • Belotero is a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler that smoothes out facial wrinkles and hydrates the surface of the skin to keep it looking refreshed. Belotero is a great choice for vertical lines above the lips and under eye hollows. Belotero is unique in that it does not create puffiness or Tyndall effect. (Tyndall effect is a bluish tone on the skin after receiving HA filler.)
  • Radiesse is a dermal filler that is made of Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa). It provides great volume and lift that is desired for a contoured cheek, or a defined jawline. It’s composed of a biodegradable gel and calcium based microspheres which acts as a scaffold under the skin and stimulates collagen production for several months after being injected. This robust filler is commonly used for cheeks, chin, and jawline.
  • Hyperdilute Radiesse (HDR): When Radiesse is mixed with normal saline, it becomes purely a collagen stimulator. This is a great treatment for areas that don’t require a lot of volume but have lines and laxity such as the neck, décolleté, and hands.
  • Non surgical Brazilian Butt Lift – using HDR, we can create a perkier bottom, address skin laxity, improve the appearance of cellulite, and correct hip dips. We can also enhance your derrière over multiple sessions.

Sculptra

From the maker of Dysport, Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen. Collagen is the most common protein in the body to give your skin resiliency and fullness. Due to the natural aging process, and with certain medical conditions, collagen diminishes over time. Sculptra activates your body’s natural power to stimulate collagen production. This is typically used over the full face to combat collagen loss.

Sculptra FAQs

Sculptra consists of Poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA), a synthetic polymer which has been used in the human body since 1960 and is used as medical suture material.

Sculptra is great for people who want a gradual natural result and have the timeline for it as it can take months before optimal results. Fillers on the other hand work immediately. Best treatment would be a combination of both, for short term and long term results.

Depending on your age and volume loss. The estimated amount of vials can be calculated by dividing your age by 10.

Depending on how many vials needed, we recommend not to exceed 2 vials for each session. Follow up treatments are ideally spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

You will start to notice improvement 4-6 weeks after your session, best results are seen 6 months after first session. They can last upwards of 2-3 years, however you may need a touch up once a year.

No. Collagen supplements when ingested break down and their effectiveness remains inconclusive. Collagen creams do not fully penetrate the dermis to provide long lasting results.

Dermal Fillers Treatment Instructions

Before

  • If you are suffering from cold sores, let your doctor know. You will need a prescription to get rid of any infection and eliminate the chance of post-treatment sores.

  • Avoid blood thinning and anti-inflammatory medication for 10 to 14 days before your appointment to decrease the risk of bruising and swelling. These medications include Aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Fish Oil Supplements, Vitamin E, and other NSAIDs.

  • Alcohol poses a similar risk. Avoid drinking for one week before your appointment for an easier recovery.

  • We recommend two weeks between your appointment and any special events. This allows bruising and swelling to disappear and the filler to settle.

  • If a rash, cold sore, or blemish appears in the treatment area, try to reschedule your appointment 48 hours in advance.

  • To reduce dizziness, nausea, and lightheadedness, eat a healthy breakfast before the procedure.

  • Taking Arnica for one week before the procedure can prevent bruising. Take five tablets under the tongue three times a day.

After

  • You may see redness and swelling at injection sites right after the procedure. It is a normal inflammatory response and will not last long.

  • Avoid touching the injection site for 24 hours after the procedure unless instructed otherwise.

  • DO NOT participate in heavy lifting, exercise, or straining activity for 24 hours after treatment.

  • Do not consume extra sodium or alcohol for 24 hours after treatment to limit excess swelling.

  • To alleviate swelling, use a cold compress for 5-10 minutes hourly and take Tylenol.

  • If swelling persists, try elevating your back as you sleep.

  • If you used hyaluronic acid filler, avoid laser treatment for 4 to 6 weeks after injections.

  • If bruising occurs, try using ice and Arnica gel to heal the bruise faster. You can also reduce the bruise with our Cutera Excel V laser. If a bruise shows no signs of decreasing for two days, schedule an appointment with us.

  • We recommend waiting a few days for swelling to decrease before assessing your satisfaction. Remember, we can always add more.
